To Younger Version of Me

I remember our big dreams, like reaching the stars with a ladder. We thought with hard work, we can conquer the world. But, life is not as simple as cooking Indomie Goreng. You worked very hard, believing that strong will is the key. But then, life became like a movie with unexpected plot twists. We faced problems, unexpected challenges, and situations that made us confused. It’s like we are main characters in a drama we didn’t sign up for.
But, let’s not be too hard on ourselves. We navigated life with the knowledge we had, even if it was like using a map drawn by a child. Yes, we made mistakes, maybe more than a few, but each mistake taught us something. Remember when we tried to assemble Magnum Saber without instructions? Life is like that, trial, error, and some extra screws we never knew where to put. So, seriously, please make sure to read that instruction, we Muslim(s), we have it!
I see now that we were too hard on ourselves, expecting life to spin perfectly like a well-launched Beyblade. We aimed high, and when we didn’t reach it, it felt like a test, reminding us to have patience and trust in the journey. But here’s the funny part; even when things didn’t go as planned, we kept going. We adapted, learned, and found new paths.
Our dreams might have changed over time, like a story that takes unexpected turns. The passion, ambition, and hope? Still there, just unfolding in new ways. It’s like we started with one chapter and ended up in a completely different genre. Different feel, same essence.
Letting go of the original dream was hard, like trying to ride a fixie bike up a hill. But in doing so, we found other lucks we never imagined. We’re still in the game, still rolling the dice, and that’s something to be proud of.
So, here’s to us, the dreamers, the doers, the ones who stumbled but never stayed down. The journey’s not over, and the best surprises are yet to come.
May our journey ahead be filled with Berkah and Rahmat-Nya,
Your older (and slightly wiser) self.
